Visit Marlborough

Welcome to Marlborough

The thriving town of Marlborough and the neigbouring pretty village of Manton are set in the stunning scenery of the North Wessex Downs National Landscape. There's countryside within 10 minutes walk of the High Street in almost any direction, and downland, stone circles and ancient Savernake Forest are literally on our doorstep and the River Kennet chalk stream flows through the town centre. The town has remained unspoiled, retaining its historic charm and is perfectly situated on the old Bath Road (built by order of the Kings of England) linking Bath to London - the Great West Way is a rich and enticing route for visitors to explore to this day. A favourite watering hole for coach & horses travellers in the past, Marlborough is a cosmopolitan destination today continuing to welcome visitors from all over the world.

For a taste of the diverse mix of independent, specialist shops and fabulous places to dine just waiting to be discovered take a look at our feature on two of our beautiful yards just off the High Street.  But don't just take our word for it: see Marlborough through the eyes of a visitor at "Things Helen Loves"

DOWNLOADS include self-guided walks to help you find Big Belly Oak, Old Paunchy and a host of other ancient oaks in Savernake Forest, two nature trails, a map of the town and for inspiration in sun, rain or with kids or dogs there's also our '50 things to do' leaflet.  We're also excited to get going on the new long distance Pewsey Vale circular route.

Use Wiltshire Connect, a timetabled and on-demand, bookable bus service, to explore the area.  Routes give you access to destinations such as West Kennet Long Barrow, the Ridgeway at West Overton, Great Bedwyn Rail Station, village pubs, canal walks, and the towns of Devizes and Hungerford.
