We spoke to Alison Howell, founder of walking holiday company Foot Trails, to find out what she loves about taking guests on adventures along the Great West Way. Watch the video above or read on to find out what she has to say about exploring new landscapes and getting out of London...

"What Foot Trails does is get people out into the English countryside on foot through varying different walking experiences. We take our guests out into the sorts of places that they would probably find difficult to find by themselves. These are places that are off the beaten track - little known villages, market towns, areas of countryside that people might not have heard of before.

"Everything we do is about getting people out into rural England on foot. We love to tell people stories and histories, and to help inform them about the places they're seeing. Englishness really is a big part of who we are and what we do.

"I think what's so great about the Great West Way is that it is really trying to draw people out of London, to come and see what else there is to explore in other parts of South West England. What inspires me about it is the huge variety of things that there are to do. From canals and waterways to riding on horseback and walking, there are a tremendous amount of experiences that people can connect with and enjoy."
