A Taste of England Tours specialises in individually prepared tours for guests who want to explore the heritage, landscape and culture of Southern England and discover the wonderful local food of this region.

I can offer:
Tours are designed and led by Blue Badge Guide Julia Morris. I help my guests find the authentic local experiences taking great care to plan your itinerary to suit your interests and preferences. I work with a network of with other qualified local guides available when larger groups visit.

Some ideas to inspire:
•    A Royal Heritage tour from Windsor to Salisbury or Bath with an English picnic en route.
•    An Alfred the Great tour inspired by Bernard Cornwell’s ‘The Last Kingdom’ with a visit to an award winning local pub out on the Somerset Levels where Alfred burnt the cakes and hunted for eels!
•    Jane Austen, literary and film locations in Bath and Lacock combined with afternoon tea at the Pump Rooms in Bath.
•    Ancient landscapes at Stonehenge and Avebury with a taste of Wiltshire ham, artisan cheese and local beer for a Ploughman’s lunch.
•    Great Houses and country villages: Blenheim, Burford and Stow or Highclere Castle and Bampton village for a Downton Abbey Day with lunch at a local delicatessen or pub.

Individuals and small groups: a luxury car or people carrier can be arranged for individuals and couples wanting a personalised tour. Family tours with activities and interest for all members of the group are a speciality.

Guided coach tours I take groups to visit the key sites and locations along the Great West Way following the themes and routes and stories that will inspire your guests.   I also have extensive experience with educational groups designing tours that get all the group involved, learning and enjoying their day out.

Tours on foot are very popular in Bath, Windsor and Salisbury or we can go off the beaten track to discover some of the less well known towns and villages in the Cotswolds and the quieter parts of Wiltshire and Berkshire.  For the slo-explore experience try a longer landscape walk: for example, the Chalk Downlands, across the Cotswolds or the skyline route above Bath. Combine your time in the outdoors with a visit to a local food producer, country pub or farmhouse tea room.

My Life as a guide:
Somerset has been my home for some years now but I was born in Surrey and have been fortunate enough to live in and become a local in Dorset, Wiltshire and the Wye Valley. I have led guided tours across southern England for almost 20 years since I qualified as a Blue Badge Tourist Guide. I’ve also had great experiences bringing history to life in Museums and out and about with groups learning by experiencing our landscape or enjoying an authentic feel of the past exploring heritage through the history of food and cookery.
