Bath’s charms are no secret. From Roman baths to Regency architecture, there are many reasons this UNESCO World Heritage Site lures visitors from across the globe.

The city was built up around its mineral rich hot springs, so you’ll want to spend some time at the spa. First stop: the Roman Baths, where it all began. Explore this steamy complex, walking on the very ground bathers did more than 2,000 years ago. Afterwards, whizz forward to the present day and enjoy a healing dip yourself at Thermae Bath Spa. The rooftop pool is a highlight in every sense.

Surrounded by lush Cotswold countryside, and an abundance of West Country produce, Bath is also blessed with a thriving food scene. Discover the latest hotspots on a food and drink tour with Savouring Bath. Their Local Flavours tour includes meeting traders (and plenty of tastings) at Bath Farmers’ Market, while their Georgian Fare tour explores tasty morsels popular in Jane Austen’s day.

In fact the novelist has a whole museum dedicated to her in Bath. At the Jane Austen Centre, you can see a life-like wax model of her and find out how her time in the city influenced her writing. There’s also an annual Jane Austen Festival, held in September, which some fans like to dress up in there finest frocks and coats for.

If art is more your thing, check out The Holburne Museum - the core of the museum’s collection was left for the public by Sir William Holburne when he died in 1874. Or perhaps you prefer fashion? The Fashion Museum Bath, in the sufficiently elegant Assembly Rooms, tells fascinating personal histories through its displays of Georgian gowns, Victorian corsets and Shakespearean gloves.
