Join us for our inaugural art exhibition opening on Sunday, June 16th, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the North Hall, Badminton House.
In 1703, the first Duchess of Beaufort, Mary Somerset, enlisted Everard Kik, a Dutch botanical artist, to portray her diverse plant collection. These 178 paintings, possibly including works by Mary and her footman-turned-artist Daniel Frankcom, were compiled into a "florilegium." Housed at Badminton House for over 300 years, this collection will be publicly displayed for the first time.
From June 16th-23rd and September 8th-15th, 2024, witness 30 reproduced masterpieces alongside the originals. Limited edition copies will be available for purchase, showcasing Mary's botanical legacy, blending science and culture. Mary's influence endures in British gardens, reflecting her timeless fascination with the botanical realm.
