Return of the Ghoulish Goat!

Cheddar Gorge & Caves is inviting families to step into a world of spooky fun this October half-term, as it launches a haunting line-up of Halloween activities running from 24th October to 2nd November 2025.

All events are included with a Day Ticket, making Cheddar a great destination for family-friendly thrills this October half term.

What's in store for you and your family:

  • 'Return of The Ghoulish Goat' audio guide story in Gough’s Cave – Versions available for age groups - Under 12’s and 12+.
  • Visitors can pick up an audio guide and immerse themselves in a Halloween-themed story while exploring Gough’s Cave. 
  • Ghoulish Goat Trail in Gough’s Cave: The goats of Cheddar have fallen under a mysterious spell! Families are challenged to crack the code hidden within the cave to break the curse and free the goats back into Cheddar Gorge. 
  • Halloween Party fun with gruesome games, spookified crafts and badgemaking.
  • Halloween treats on sale in Gough’s Café: Gough’s Café will be serving up a range of seasonal specials to delight all ages.

What’s Included in a Day Ticket?

A single ticket grants access to six exciting attractions:

Gough’s Cave – A spectacular stalactite show cave where Cheddar Man, Britain’s oldest, most complete human skeleton, was discovered, along with details of his remarkable DNA findings.

Cox’s Cave – ‘Yeo’s Journey’ – A multimedia experience that tells the captivating story of how these iconic caves were formed and shaped by water over millions of years.

Fire, Stones and Bones – The engaging event at the Museum of Prehistory.

Beyond the View – A cinematic experience exploring the local history, wildlife, and plant life.

Jacob’s Ladder & The Lookout Tower – A climb up 274 steps leading to breathtaking views of Cheddar Gorge and the Mendip Hills.

The Cliff-Top Walk – A scenic route offering stunning panoramic views of a landscape millions of years in the making.
