Here Comes The Sun is an all-day festival of music, arts, dance, children’s activities, food, drink and everything that makes the Rising Sun Arts Centre in Reading so special. For the eleventh year running, there will be a full day of music, arts, food and fun on Saturday 8th August.
Here Comes The Sun is one of the biggest events of the centre’s calendar, and presents a unique chance to really show off just what makes the place – and its volunteers – so special. This tall, imposing former temperance house will once again be transformed into a colourful cathedral of culture. The doors to the centre are flung open to give our community all-area access, with art and decorations cropping up in every conceivable corner.
Performances will take place across three stages throughout the day, giving visitors the chance to experience the hot big-gig feel of the Sun Stage in the main room, the laid-back lounge setting of the Sky Stage upstairs, and the quaint and cosy charm of the Tree Stage in our back garden (rarely open to the public).
As well as a fantastic programme of live music, comedy and poetry, the courtyard will be transformed into a wonderful play area for kids filled with loads of fun things to do. Plus there’s an outdoor cinema in the evening and plenty to eat and drink. All courtesy of a dedicated team of volunteers.
Here Comes The Sun is a perfect way to celebrate creativity, participation and knowledge – the very ideals that The Rising Sun Arts Centre and its volunteers hold dear, and all proceeds from the event will be re-invested into the running of the centre.
