Could you survive the Stone Age?

Step back in time this summer and see what life was really like at Cheddar Gorge & Caves.

Be transported through time and embark on an interactive and thrilling journey into the prehistoric world of our ancient ancestors this summer.

Experience the excitement of the Stone Age in an action-packed day filled with live demonstrations, interactive fun, and unforgettable discoveries.

This fun and educational adventure shines the spotlight on how our ancestors lived, survived and thrived in challenging, harsh and often dangerous conditions.

'Surviving the Stone Age' runs daily during the school holidays from Saturday 19th July to Monday 1st September 2025 and is included with a Cheddar Gorge & Caves Day Ticket, giving access to six incredible attractions.

Join our expert hunter-gatherers as they bring the Stone Age to life through fun, family-friendly demonstrations. Watch mesmerising fire lighting shows. See how our ancestors crafted tools vital for their daily survival. Enjoy interactive and captivating storytelling sessions that reveal how our ancestors 'survived every day, the Stone Age way!'.

Daily Activity Schedule:
• 11am and 2pm – Fire Lighting: Watch fire come to life using traditional Stone Age techniques. Discover the skills that kept our ancestors warm, fed, and safe.

• 12pm and 3pm – Survival Tools: See how prehistoric tools were crafted and used, showcasing the innovation and craftsmanship of early humans.

• 1pm and 4pm - 'Imagine Life in the Stone Age'. A lively interactive storytelling session that paints a vivid picture of daily life in the Stone Age.

Plus, there's a lot more to do throughout the day:

• Ask the hunter-gatherer team questions about life in prehistoric times.
• Kids can get into character in the Stone Age dress-up corner.
• Put your newly found knowledge to the test and take on a fun museum quiz or complete the 'Surviving the Stone Age' activity sheet - packed with fun challenges and puzzles.
• There's a special edition 'Surviving the Stone Age' sticker to take home too.

It's a perfect day out for curious minds!
