About

The Merchant's House are delighted to welcome The Lovekyn Consort.

Named after a chantry chapel in Kingston upon Thames. The Lovekyn Consort was formed to play chamber versions of music from the Renaissance court, church and stage - and also the tavern, fair and ship - using period instruments. Their style of performance is influenced by early music revivalists such as David Munrow and The Baltimore Consort, and by Shakespearian mixtures of high and low culture. Their core repertoire includes music from the early Tudor court, songs from Shakespeare's plays, the Spanish Golden Age and especially for this programme - early Jacobean repertoire, with several songs written from a female point of view, which appear on their album 'In Mirth and Mourning'.
