As you drive through the gates to Woolley Grange, part of the Luxury Family Hotel collection, the sense of timelessness is palpable. Before you stands a beautiful Jacobean manor surrounded by a quintessential English country garden (albeit 14 acres). For generations, families have lived in comfort and luxury here whilst the world changed around them.
Above the great front door the date 1665 and the initials FR are carved to mark the first owner Francis Randolph. After the Randolph family came the Baskervilles, who operated as clothiers making their money from the manufacture of woollen cloth. As the years passed and Woolley Grange’s owners grew richer, they gradually extended and improved the old manor house to make it what we see today.
For the last 30 years Woolley Grange has been a hotel, where luxury takes on a different form to that enjoyed by the original owners. Here you can escape the everyday in so many ways.

Firstly, there’s the comfortable country bedrooms. Each of the 25 rooms are individually styled with vintage antiques and offer options for couples through to a range of family sizes. All have luxury linen, toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities.
Then there’s the custom-built spa with sauna, steam room and swimming pool (there is also a seasonal outdoor heated pool) and two treatment rooms offering a range of indulgent Elemis facials and massages.

Or how about the extensive gardens? A veritable adventure playground for all ages. There’s a dedicated Good Life Garden complete with play sheds, rabbits, chickens and ducks and a (shush!) fairy garden, an ancient orchard, a giant cedar swing, a trampoline and football nets and a Victorian walled kitchen garden with lots of lovely produce grown for the restaurant. On finer days enjoy a glass of champagne on the terrace accompanied by perhaps a game of croquet.
The onsite creche, the Woolley Bears Den, is perfect for tired parents, with 90minutes of complimentary childcare per day - enough time to choose a book from the hotel’s Little Library and sit in peace by one of the log fires, or even to have a proper adult conversation.

Food and drink feature big time at Woolley Grange. Hotel guests and locals alike can enjoy culinary delights by Head Chef Dean Westcar, a BBC The Professionals MasterChef Semi Finalist. From fine dining to light lunches or a delicious afternoon tea, it’s well worth a visit. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the interesting drinks list, classically inspired with some local nuggets.
And of course, no country estate is complete without its dogs. The hotel is a place for families – including pets – to enjoy time spent together in a really relaxing place.
The hotel is running a number of great value breaks this autumn and winter. Check out the Overnight Pamper break, the Midweek Special and tailored breaks for parents and dog owners. An ideal way to escape the everyday!

Woolley Grange is located on the edge of the medieval town of Bradford on Avon, 20 minutes by car or train to central Bath, half an hour from Longleat and 10 minutes from the beautiful National Trust village of Lacock.
