About

The ancient market town of Malmesbury has been home to a Carnival for nearly 100 years, and the heart of Carnival is still the procession, which this year is on the 5th September starting from 4pm. The route is up through the town and is always lined with enthusiastic and generous spectators, enjoying the spectacle and invention of the local participants and the wonderful marching bands.

These days though, Carnival and Festival is so much more than the procession. During August there will be a range of events to suit all ages and tastes.  All profits made from these events are donated back into the local community.

The full, detailed Festival programme is now available on the Carnival website here, some of the highlights include;

Open Gardens; Discover Malmesbury’s varied and beautiful gardens throughout the town. Sunday 2nd August

Petticoat Lane, our lively street market of bargains and fun. Sunday 30th August

Billy Danter’s fun fair – the ever popular fair is back with rides for all the family, Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th September.

These are just a few of the events that will be running – keep an eye on our website www.malmesburycarnival.co.uk and Facebook page for updates of food and wine evenings, quizzes, family fun days and talks.

Tickets for events will be available from the Carnival website and from the Tourist Information Centre at the Town Hall in Malmesbury.
