Farmcraft (at Church Farm Country Cottages) now offers outdoor workshops on the farm or in the surrounding woodland. These are for families/friends/groups to gain an insight into what life is like on a working sheep farm, and also an introduction in basic bushcraft and survival skills. Having been brought up and raised on a farm, I now wish to share some of her experiences of farm/outdoor life with others.
A ‘Farm Workshop’ is time spent on the farm (with Becky) learning about some of the day-to-day jobs/chores. This could be from feeding sheep, weighing lambs for market, sheep herding, a Farm tour to a neighbouring farm with other farm animals and finishing up with some Farm Olympics.
I also offer sessions in basic bushcraft and survival skills. Activities include fire lighting, den building, basic foraging and making creative artefacts using natural resources (jewellery/bows and arrows/colour dyes etc). This again is great fun, and the adults will get into it just as much as the children
These sessions are suitable for all ages from 3 years upwards. I always adapt them so that activities match the age group. A parent/guardian must always be present during these sessions.
Booking and payment is taken in advance. The price for a family of 4 is £45.00 (-/+ £10 for additional people). Contact Becky (farmcraft2018@gmail.com) for more details.
