Via the M4 Visitors coming from London, Reading, Slough, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and much of the South East can follow the M4 westbound towards Bristol. Leave the motorway at Junction 22 and follow the A38 south towards Weston-super-Mare before joining the A371 to Wells. Wookey Hole is located just outside Wells and is clearly signposted from the town centre.
Via the A303 For those travelling from Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Kent and the south of London, the A303 provides a direct and scenic route across southern England. Follow the A303 west towards Somerset, leaving near Sparkford to join the A371 towards Shepton Mallet and Wells. From Wells, Wookey Hole is only a short drive away and is well signposted.

London to Wookey Hole: approximately 2.5–3 hours Reading to Wookey Hole: approximately 2–2.5 hours Southampton to Wookey Hole: approximately 2 hours via the A303 Bristol to Wookey Hole: approximately 45 minutes Located in the heart of Somerset, just outside the historic city of Wells, Wookey Hole offers convenient road access from across the South East, London and the Home Counties, making it an ideal destination for a family day out or short break.
The nearest railway station is Castle Cary, 14 miles away. This is a taxi ride away. There are regular buses from the city of Wells which is only a 5 minute drive.

* Wookey Hole is open seven days per week 10am-5.30pm (10 – 4pm off peak -outside school holidays and at various dates during the year).
It is closed mid-week from early November to Mid February and during December mid week until the school holidays. Closed Christmas day and Boxing Day. Private group visits are considered during the closed periods.
