Counter's Creek is an acoustic folk band who play original music inspired by the folk music of the British Isles and beyond. Expect foot-tapping jigs and reels, heartfelt songs and 4-part harmony, dance grooves from Eastern Europe and West Africa and a whole lot more…
Featuring Ben Cox (voice/flute/whistles/harmonium), Jonathan Taylor (flute/whistles), Tom Newell (violin/viola) and Moss Freed (guitar).
This is an evening of exciting, uplifting entertainment; virtuoso performances delivered by engaging and witty musicians who convey their passion for contemporary British and Irish folk music in their playing as well as encouraging the audience to join them in sea shanties and 4-part harmony!
The combination of tightly arranged, intricate music with improvisational flair and daring performances will entertain all music-lovers; the soulful singing of Ben Cox will melt your heart and the energetic jigs and reels will make you want to dance the night away!
Between them the four musicians have performed at most of the UK's leading Folk and
Jazz festivals, played with pop acts including Muse and One Direction, appeared on TV shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and in numerous stage shows on the West End and around the UK.
Here is some feedback from their performances for Artsreach Rural Touring Scheme in 2024:
"Wow, what a brilliant Artsreach event we have just had with Counter's Creek! The packed out audience was absolutely mesmerized by the beautiful playing and haunting melodies of these four very talented musicians. It was such a treat. Thank you all for a very memorable evening!" – Wootton Fitzpaine Village Hall
"Thank you Counter's Creek for a wonderful concert in Winfrith last night. The music was sensational and even people who openly claim not to be 'folk fans' tell me they really, really enjoyed it!" – Winfrith Village Hall
