Moth flying

About

As some of the most beautiful and instantly recognisable insects, the UK's butterflies and moths are both a delight and challenge when it comes to seeing and identifying them. Focusing on general identification techniques, this course will give you an introduction to both common and rarer species found in the UK.

During the course, you will explore some of the ecology of UK butterflies and moths, including their habitat preferences and destinations you should visit in Avon to find them. You will also learn how you can take action for nature in your own garden and local area to help these amazing insects thrive!

About your tutor, Matt Collis: Matt is a professional ecologist and uses these skills as a teacher, consultant & wildlife tour leader based in Devon. Passionate about sharing his love for nature and connecting others, Matt is a tutor for the British Trust for Ornithology and Avon Wildlife Trust. Covering a broad range of taxa, he has both a wide and specialist knowledge of all things British wildlife and beyond. When he's not teaching, he continues to connect people to nature through Devon Wildlife Tours, his bespoke wildlife tour company.
