About

Step into The Roman Baths and uncover the mysteries of Sulis Minerva through fun puzzles, interactive challenges, and curious clues hidden across the site.

Summer Quest: Reverse the Curse

Welcome to the Roman Baths… where things are not always as they seem.

In Roman Britain, this was the place to relax, socialise, do business, and, if needed, call down divine revenge on your enemies. Worshippers would write curses on lead tablets and throw them into the sacred spring, asking the goddess Sulis Minerva to punish wrongdoers.

But… what if you changed your mind?

Your mission is simple (well… not that simple): reverse the curse – if you can.

Follow the Summer Quest trail through The Roman Baths and:

  • Solve mind-bending puzzles and cryptic clues
  • Take on interactive challenges across the site
  • Discover how Romans really used the Baths (and their tempers…)
  • Crack the code to reveal the all-important magic word

Get it right, and Sulis Minerva may show mercy – lifting the curse and rewarding your efforts with a 3-month digital subscription to AQUILA Magazine worth £11.99.

Who’s it for?

Perfect for curious kids and brave families (approx. ages 7+), this playful quest transforms your visit into a fun, story-led adventure full of history, humour, and problem-solving.

The quest is included in entry to The Roman Baths – just pick up a booklet on your way in. This special quest has been created in partnership with AQUILA, the award-winning magazine for inquisitive young minds who love puzzles, big ideas, and a challenge.
