About

The Big Avon Paddle is back on 17 September! Join Dorothy House as we spend some time on the River Avon, raising money for vital hospice care in our community.

The route is a 4.5 mile loop that starts at The Boathouse (Newbridge Road, Bath) and turns back at Saltford Marina (Saltford, Bristol). Paddlers can do the loop as many, or as few, times as you wish!

The Big Avon Paddle isn't a race; it's a paced event that's enjoyable for all participants of all abilities. The event starts at 10am and finishes at 6pm. The enjoyable and picturesque route provides plenty of opportunities for stopping, refreshments, loo breaks and catching up with fellow paddlers.

Event entry is £20 and every participant should raise £200 in sponsorship for Dorothy House. Participants who raise £300 or more will receive a free event hoodie! The entry fee covers the cost of your event t-shirt, a medal and refreshments at The Boathouse, along with live music.

Every participant must provide their own paddleboard, kayak or canoe – all are welcome!

There are no boards or boats available for hire on the day, so you'll need to make your own arrangements ahead of time. Additionally, you must bring your own PFD/lifejacket/buoyancy aid and wear this at all times when on the water.
