Are you, or could you be, wild about weeds? Join Migration Mobilities Bristol and Bristol Ideas for a walking conversation about the nature of native-ness and mobility in weeds and humans alike.
Bristol Ideas are excited to be joined by Jane Memmott, Professor of Ecology at the School for Biological Sciences, University of Bristol, who will introduce us to what grows in the cracks of Clifton's pavements and walls. From Mexican fleabane to Himalayan honeysuckle we'll learn about the ecology, pollinators and histories of weeds. Professor Memmott will be in conversation with Bridget Anderson, Professor of Migration, Mobilities and Citizenship, and together we will all interrogate ideas of native-ness and the alien, and how they connect to migration and invasive species.
Tour headsets will be available for use, so please arrive in good time so that we can explain how to use them. If possible, please bring your own headphones to use with the headsets.
The walk will carry on come rain or shine, so please bring the appropriate clothing you need to make the tour comfortable. If you have any access requirements or questions about the route, please contact Bristol Ideas.
