Bath Sculpture Group will continue its long run of successful annual exhibitions with a showcase of new work at Walcot Chapel, Bath from 4th – 9th July.
This year the group is celebrating its 25th anniversary. It was founded by sculptor Sue Larner who leads the classes, attended by about 25 students drawn from as far afield as Salisbury, Bristol, Frome and Corsham. Some, remarkably, started with Sue back in 1990s.
The classes, based at the independent Bath Artists' Studios, are rare: there are only a handful of public life-sculpting classes in the country. Students work in the studio from a life model, creating sculptures in a variety of materials and sizes.
This summer's exhibition will present more than 40 works made over the past year, revealing an exciting diversity of styles. There will be full-figure sculptures alongside portraits and reliefs, in fired clay, wire and ciment fondu, bronze and plaster. Many are for sale at very affordable prices, ranging from £50 - £500.
