Clifton is ‘The handsomest suburb in Europe’ said John Betjeman.
Show of Strength's tour reveals the extraordinary people behind the elegant facades. Fabulous buildings, scenery and stories: a jilted barmaid’s brush with death; a runaway Empress; the only forger sentenced to death to keep his head and have it on a banknote; and the Georgian terrace that housed the Holy Grail. Starting and ending in the village, Clifton will never look the same again.
Tour lasts approx. 2 hours.
Meet/start: large terraced area, top of steps in front of Lawes & Co Accountants, Boyces Buildings, Regent St BS8 4HU.
This tour takes place outdoors. Ends close by. Possible pause halfway round for outside/inside drink if the group is keen.
£14, advance booking only
Adults only. Maximum group size 15. No dogs except guide dogs and registered assistance dogs.
