One such offering is the "Design a Play in 5 Days" course, scheduled from Monday, July 29th, to Friday, August 2nd, 2024. Open to participants aged 18 and above, this immersive experience invites you into the design studios of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where you'll collaborate closely with our esteemed Head of Design and visiting specialists.

Over the course of five days, you'll embark on a journey of creativity and innovation, delving into the process of shaping designs tailored to a given text. From conducting detailed analyses of short pieces of text to transforming narratives into captivating visualizations, you'll hone your craft and bring your creative vision to life.

Throughout the course, you'll have the opportunity to:

Explore character research with a specific focus on designing costumes that breathe life into the narrative.

Construct a model box of the Spielman Studio at Tobacco Factory Theatres, mastering the art of scale and dimension.

Engage in hands-on experimentation with various materials, bringing your designs to fruition at full scale within our state-of-the-art studio spaces.

Receive invaluable guidance on assembling design portfolios and presenting your work to diverse audiences, equipping you with the skills needed to showcase your talent effectively.

Whether you're seeking to embark on a career in theatre design or simply looking to deepen your understanding of the creative process, this course offers a unique opportunity to expand your repertoire and refine your skills under the mentorship of industry-leading practitioners.
