About

Each month we will be bringing top names in Jazz to the Civic to perform at our 'venue within a venue', the Café. Instrumentalists and singers renowned for their talent, will hosts live music nights featuring the best sounds in modern jazz along with some funk and soul flavours thrown in.

Featuring in May: Paul "Shilts" Weimar

Our very own Civic manager, Paul will be bringing his blend of soulful, jazzy saxophone to the café this month. For over 40 years Paul played professionally with top musicians and bands in an eclectic career that took him all around the world. Names like, David Bowie, QUEEN, Jamiroquai, & The Brand New Heavies were just some of the people he toured and recorded with. He then went on to have a 20 year solo career which included moving to Los Angeles for 10 years and releasing 5 solo albums.

Paul will be playing tunes from some of those albums along with favourite standards. There may just be a few guests turning up too … you never know.
