A regular performer at Pound Arts for our silent film series, Meg Morley now joins us as soloist to perform a piano recital of her original music.
After studying classical music and jazz improvisation in Australia, Meg relocated to London in 2010 where, as a composer, she has collaborated with choreographers and numerous international dance companies (Matthew Bourne, Pina Bausch, English National Ballet) and performed her commissioned scores for various international film festivals (including a collaboration with Derbyshire's Haiku Salut for Flatpack Festival in Birmingham and at the Barbican London, and a solo piano score for Kino Lorber's DVD release of Alfred Hitchock's The Ring).
A natural musical storyteller, Meg was deemed an Exceptional Talent by Arts Council England after releasing her debut solo piano recording 'Through The Hours' in 2017 which received an enthusiastic four-star review in International Piano Magazine. She then followed this with two highly praised trio albums 'Can't Get Started' (2017) and Journey Through Home (2022).
"Morley's is a talent that is well worthy of greater recognition" – ★★★★ The Jazz Mann
"Morley's style is suffused in jazz and references the Impressionists, revealing new depths on each encounter" – ★★★★ International Piano Magazine
