Following on from the success of our Levantine Feast, on Wednesday, September 14th the Town Hall hosts an evening that sets out to explore ways in which we can take our destiny into our own hands at a moment in time when society faces unprecedented challenges. We will be welcoming activist and musician Rose Music into our building for the evening. Rose begun her journey as part of the renowned project, Grow Heathrow, that successfully organised opposition to the Third Runway. After that, Rose went onto facilitate community actions with groups such as the Transition Network and the Permaculture Association, before hitch-hiking across the Atlantic (all will be revealed) to record her first EP.
Rose will talk about the choices she has made in her young life and her determination to make our world a better place. To sustain us through the evening, a specially foraged meal will be served before Rose and her band entertain us with their beguiling mix of ragga-blues rhythms and smokey vocals with healing horn lines, weaving a world of alternatives with communion and song.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'
There is a delicious set menu for this event, so please be sure to let us know of any dietary requirements or allergies for everyone in your party at the time of booking.
To avoid the online booking fee please phone our box office on 01225 774306. Open Monday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm.
