Bristol Folk Festival brings exceptional uplifting and blistering Americana to St Georges.
Ranagri
Fatea Magazine ‘Band of the Year’ (2022), Ranagri hail from Ireland and England. The band weave a mesmerising mix of harp, guitar, bouzouki, flutes, vocals and bodhran.
Classically trained, with a contemporary folk twist, Ranagri are as happy to make you dance, as they are to make you smile or shed a tear.
Acclaimed albums include ‘Playing for Luck’, ‘Fort of the Hare’ and ‘The Great Irish Songbook’ (with pop legend Tony Christie) all produced at the Grammy Award-winning Stockfisch Records.
Alongside Donal Rogers, Jordan Murray, and Eleanor Dunsdon, Ranagri is also home to the remarkable Eliza Marshall, an award-winning musician who has collaborated with Catrin Finch, Peter Gabriel, and performed as a soloist with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and The Royal Opera House.
Rachel Baiman
Raised in Chicago, Baiman made her way to Nashville at 18 with the dream of being a professional fiddle player. Instead, she’s slowly becoming the voice of a generation.
Steeped in bluegrass and folk, Baiman’s latest release ‘Common Nation of Sorrow’ chronicles a USA (and world) in crisis. Economic injustice, intergenerational trauma and the rise of Elon Musk, are all laid bare, with humour and humanity.
Baiman’s skill as a musician (banjo, fiddle, guitar, vocals) has seen her record with the likes of Kacey Musgraves and Molly Tuttle, but it’s her voice and warmth that marks her a standout artist.
Around About Dusk
Are you ready for an adventure? Around About Dusk lead audiences on a magical journey through European Folk, New Orleans Jazz and old-time influences.
From European festivals to gatherings around English campfires, Rachel Lawrence (vocals, accordian) and the band (double bass, trumpet, clarinet) are fast becoming one of Bristol’s favourite exports.
